The Deadpool 2 trailer is finally out and he’s bringing the X Force with him.
On Thursday, an extended third trailer for Deadpool 2 came along to show us all the mutants. It also confirmed the movie is assembling the X-Force after many rumors of an upcoming X-Force spin-off movie.
What is completely expected from the trailer is more of Deadpool’s mouthy wisecracks, a lot of bloody violence, and meta-commentary on the nature of superhero films. From the looks of things, Deadpool is still doing the vigilante thing, until Josh Brolin’s Cable arrives with plans to kill a kid who seems to have powers. Cable isn’t letting anything stand in his way — including Deadpool. Violence ensues.
When Deadpool realizes he can’t take on Cable by himself, he brings together a few superheroes and assembles them into a group that he calls X-Force, which he freely admits is a derivative name. We get some glimpses of the X-Men from the first Deadpool —Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead — but there are a few new players that will join them. Terry Crews appears to be playing Bedlam. There’s also a fun shot of Deadpool tooling around in Professor X’s wheelchair. It’s surprising that X-Force is fully assembled in this film, since Fox has already lined up an adaptation of the comic with Netflix’s Daredevil, and The Martian screenwriter Drew Goddard set to write and direct.
Given that the next Avengers team-up is hitting theaters in April, it seems like a ripe target for the film’s sarcasm. Reynolds’ Wade Wilson and T.J. Miller’s Weasel throw in some shots at the endless sequels that superhero films get, hinting that they themselves should just stop at Deadpool 2 before they ruin it.
