Avengers: Infinity War’ Could Surpass ‘Black Panther’

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Could Match or Surpass ‘Black Panther’ in Second Weekend Box-Office Numbers.

Avengers: Infinity War has a strong chance of matching or surpassing Black Panther’s second-weekend domestic box office grosses. Marvel’s latest team-up movie made a stunning $305.8 million in the U.S. in the first five days, setting records left and right. According to Box Office Pro, it might approach $112 million and change this weekend—potentially surpassing Black Panther’s second-weekend earnings of $111.7 million.

To be clear, Avengers: Infinity War is the biggest worldwide and domestic opener of all time, and is virtually guaranteed to become the fastest film to gross $1 billion. Yes, you read that right—this thing even knocked Star Wars: The Force Awakens from the top spot when it comes to first weekend numbers, resulting in this nice exchange between corporate entities.
