Incredibles 2′ Rakes in Around $180 Million

‘Incredibles 2’ Rakes in an Estimated $180 Million in Record-Breaking Opening Weekend.

Incredibles 2 has performed even better than anticipated in the box office during its opening weekend. The Pixar film has opened to an estimated $180 million over the weekend at the domestic box office, reports CNN.

The sequel to 2004’s The Incredibles beat the previous record holder for the biggest animated film opening in box office history, Pixar’s Finding Dory, by a massive $45 million. Worldwide, Incredibles 2 brought in $231.5 million.

Coming into the weekend, it was estimated that the animated movie would bring in a $175 million-plus domestic release. The film earned the second-biggest June opening ever, behind 2015’s Jurassic World, plus the eighth-biggest debut of all time. Incredibles 2 success is a much-needed bounce back for Disney following a very disappointing box office performance from Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Incredibles 2 centers on supermom Elastigirl, who spends her time-fighting crime while Mr. Incredible tries to keep their home life in order. As parents of a baby with increasingly fiery superpowers, a teenage daughter with teenage troubles, plus a son that is itching to be like his superhero parents, the couple has a lot on their plate. Oh, and they need to take on a sinister new villain on top of it all. The movie includes the voices of Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell, Samuel L. Jackson, John Ratzenberger, Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener, Sophia Bush, and Isabella Rossellini.
