Netflix Confirms ‘Stranger Things’ Season 3 Delay: Will It Will Be Worth the Wait?

In the final moments of a new teaser for the third season of Stranger Things, Netflix hinted that the show would not return until at least the summer of 2019. Season 1 premiered in July 2016 and Season 2 began in October 2017, so many fans had initially expected Season 3 to get underway sometime in 2018.

So, what’s the reason for the wait? During a presentation at the Television Critics Association press tour this weekend, a reporter asked why the season had been delayed. In response, Netflix’s Vice President of Original Content Cindy Holland answered, “Well, it’s a hand-crafted show.”

Holland continued, “You know, the Duffer brothers and Shawn Levy have worked really hard and they understand the stakes are high. They want to deliver something bigger and better than what they did last year. And so, they really want to take the time to get it right. I think it’s gonna be a fantastic season, it’s gonna be worth the wait.”

While you wait, you can watch a newly released promo, which focuses on the Starcourt Mall in Hawkins, Indiana.
